Everything You Need To Know About Tattoo Removal

What You Need To Know…

How Many Treatments Will I Need?

On average, most patients require between 5 and 10 sessions to achieve complete tattoo removal. However, tattoos that are older, smaller, or already faded may need as few as 3 to 4 treatments. That said, every tattoo—and every patient—is unique, so the exact number of sessions can vary.

During your free consultation, our team will evaluate your tattoo based on several key factors to provide the most accurate estimate for your removal plan. These factors include:

  • Age of the tattoo

  • Size of the tattoo

  • Location on the body

  • Ink density and color

  • Depth of ink placement

  • Presence of any pre-existing scarring

  • Whether the tattoo was done professionally or by an amateur

  • Your overall health and immune response

This personalized approach ensures you receive the most effective treatment plan for safe, complete removal.

How Long Do I Have To Wait Before My Next Treatment?

Laser tattoo removal takes time, patience, and commitment. Removal is a marathon not a sprint!

Treatment sessions are spaced a minimum of 3 to 6 weeks apart to allow your skin enough time to heal before receiving another laser session. Receiving a treatment too early into the healing process can increase unwanted risks of scarring or pigment changes.

Depending on how fast and well you heal, the waiting period between sessions may fluctuate.

Are There Any Side Effects With Tattoo Removal?

Laser tattoo removal is the safest, most effective, noninvasive method for removing unwanted ink. The most common side effects that patients experience are swelling, redness, blistering, scabbing, and itchiness. All of these side effects are temporary and heal over time. As long as proper aftercare instructions are followed, patients will see flawless results.

Aftercare plays a huge role in the success of your treatment which is why we provide all of our patients with detailed aftercare instructions. Please visit our aftercare page for tips on how to take care of your skin after each treatment.

Does Laser Tattoo Removal Hurt?

Every patient has a different pain tolerance and will react to the laser differently. Majority of patients have compared laser tattoo removal to having a rubber band snapped against the skin. Other patients have compared the laser sensation to having a tattoo applied. The main difference is that laser tattoo removal treatments are much quicker, lasting anywhere from 30 seconds to 20 minutes depending on the size of the tattoo being treated.

We’ve invested in the Zimmer Cryo cooling machine to help alleviate any pain or discomfort by numbing the skin before, during, and after your treatment.

Can You Fade My Tattoo For A Cover-Up?

Absolutely! Whether you want to completely remove your tattoo, remove just a portion or your tattoo, or simply want to fade your tattoo for a cover-up design, Aspire Medical can deliver.

Cover-up tattoos can be difficult to apply if the original artwork contains a lot of heavy, dark ink. Laser tattoo removal can shade your existing tattoo a few shades lighter to give your tattoo artist more flexibility and control over their design.
